Q: One visitor asked, "The hardwood floors in the upstairs portion of the house that we bought has been speckled with paint. What would be the easiest way to to get rid of the paint?"

A: Is the finish on the floors a polyurethane or wax? If it is latex paint, and especially if it is fairly fresh, a cloth a little bit wetter than just damp, with warm water, and lots of elbow grease, may get it off. Or a fine nylon abrasive pad, trying not to damage the finish. Otherwise buffing with a floor polisher machine and a fine screen pad, or fine sandpaper, done by hand will likely work. This would require a re coat of the floor.
